What we do

The aims of the I-Sign project are to:

Help families with deaf children who use BSL to learn the skills they need to communicate effectively.
Improve the BSL skills of people working directly with deaf children and their families.
Develop a higher level qualification for communication support workers who assist deaf children in the classroom.
Increase the availability of BSL teachers, courses and interpreters.

Link current ways to train in BSL, making clearly recognisable routes to different professional qualifications. For more information, visit the Signature website.
Run teacher training courses in BSL to increase the number of BSL teachers with formal teaching qualifications. For more information, visit the University of Central Lancanshire website.

Involve a wide range of organisations across the sector to ensure we make:
- the best use of existing skills in delivering these aims
